‘Integration through crises’ has characterised European integration for years. However, this would be inconceivable without the binding nature of European law. Building on the theoretical foundation of ‘integration through law’, this volume provides interdisciplinary perspectives to better understand European integration processes. The development of law in the asylum and Covid pandemic is examined, as is the significance of European case law in relation to fundamental freedoms and the rule of law. Further contributions are dedicated to the EU's budgetary policy under the premise of ‘integration through financing’. The anthology is aimed at political scientists and legal scholars as well as readers interested in European politics.

„Integration durch Krisen“ prägt seit Jahren die europäische Integration. Doch ohne die Verbindlichkeit europäischen Rechts wäre dies nicht denkbar. Anknüpfend an den Theorieansatz „Integration durch Recht“ schafft dieser Band politik- und rechtswissenschaftliche Zugänge zum besseren Verständnis europäischer Integrationsprozesse. Die Rechtsentwicklung in der Asyl- und Covid-Pandemie wird ebenso beleuchtet wie die Bedeutung europäischer Rechtsprechung in Bezug auf Grundfreiheiten und Rechtsstaatlichkeit. Weitere Beiträge widmen sich der Haushaltspolitik der EU unter der Prämisse „Integration durch Finanzierung“. Die Anthologie richtet sich zugleich an Politik- und Rechtswissenschaftler:innen sowie europapolitisch interessierte Leser:innen.
